Biography
Alexej Gerassimez (1987) began studying percussion at the age of seven. He studied at the Cologne University from 2000 to 2004 and has been with Peter Sadlo at the Munich University of Music since 2008. Alexej has won first prizes in numerous competitions, including the German Music Competition 2010, the Marimba Festival Nürnberg, the European Union Competition of Youth  and Jugend Musiziert. As soloist Alexej has given numerous recitals at festivals throughout Europe and Japan, including the Mecklenburg Vorpommern Festival, where he won the Ensemble Award of Nordmetall.

Press
On the 22nd of November, the Dutch newspapers Trouw and Eindhovens Dagblad published praising reviews of the TROMP final. According to Anthony Fiumara in Trouw Gerassimez “lifted the orchestra above himself with his expressive performance of Mojave.”Fiumara also praises Gerassimez for his “stage personality”, “exceptionally strong interpretation” and “guts”. In the Eindhovens Dagblad, René van Peer refers to Gerassimez as the “undisputed winner”. According to van Peer it was “instantly obvious from the first notes of the committed work […] how much he mastered the music.” Read the review here(in Dutch).
