Biography
Vassilena Serafimova (1985) began her music education at the age of six at the Music Academy of Pleven, Bulgaria, with her father Simeon Serafimov. Since 2004 she has been studying at the Conservatory of Versailles in Paris with Sylvio Gualda. Vassilena has been awarded several prizes including the fourth at the Linz Marimba Competition 2006 as well as the second prize at both the Paris Marimba Competition and the ARD competition in Munich in 2007. In 2008 she won the World Marimba Competition in Stuttgart. In 2009 she was declared "Young musician of the Year" in Bulgaria.
