Yuan Xia wins TROMP 2024!

"You are empathetic. Your performances are rich in sound, depth and sincerity. You display elegant virtuosity. As a musician, you are sensitive, touching and unforgettable. Technically and musically, you are completely on top of the music you play." is what the jury said to Yuan Xia - winner of the TROMP International Percussion Competition of 2024 on Sunday 17 November.  He performed Andrew Thomas' Merlin I & II and Box Office - a work by Martin Fondse and David Dramm that was commissioned for the final by TROMP and performed in collaboration with the duo Avenue Azure. 

The Second Prize went to the South-Korean percussionist SeongYeon Kong and the Third to Miguel Traquina from Portugal. The three finalists were among the 30 candidates that were selected out of 103 applicants for this edition's competition.
