Competiton Schedule

Jury Rounds

Sun 20 Sept
CKE - Cultuur & Kunst Eindhoven

Round 1

After an intensive selection process, ten top international candidates come to Eindhoven to present themselves to the general public. In this first round, they are given complete freedom: a venue, lighting, sound, and video projection are provided, and the rest is up to the creator. This is where we get to know the participants, so expect a wide variety of performances.

Tue 22 Sept
Muziekgebouw Eindhoven - Recital hall

Round 2
Tien. Solo. Slagwerk.

In the second round of the TROMP International Percussion Competition, ten outstanding international talents each perform a major work from the contemporary percussion repertoire. An evening of world-class solo percussion presented in a recital format.

Wed 23 Sept
Domus Dela | Eindhoven

Round 3
Postcards to the Future

Round 3 takes place in the Paterskerk at DomusDela as a walking installation.

Ten percussionists position their setups throughout the space, at different heights and surrounded by floor lamps. Together, they create a single percussion art installation that the audience can walk through.

Each performer presents a 20-minute acoustic recital centered on Seismisms by Yannis Kyriakides, a new work that translates seismic data into sound. Ten soloists, ten unique interpretations.

Sun 27 Sept
Muziekgebouw Eindhoven - Recital hall

Final

Three finalists, three days, one artistic team.

The three finalists work together with Het Muziek, composers Malika Kishino and Genevieve Murphy, and visual artist Jurjen Alkema to create a personal 35-minute recital.

Rather than presenting identical competition rounds, the finalists will premiere three unique performances in a single afternoon. Each recital includes a new work by Kishino, performed by all three finalists, as well as roadmap material specially written by Murphy for each individual performer.
